The time unit is the decade.
The standard unit of account in modern capital is the quarter. The standard unit of account in civilisational improvement is considerably longer. Aphelios operates on the longer clock.
A decade is the minimum honest interval for measuring whether an institution has built something. Anything shorter is weather, not climate.
We build and back enduring companies at the frontiers of human capability. We organise around primitives rather than sectors.
Our capital is private, patient, and our own. We do not raise from third parties. We do not pool, gate, or return on a schedule external to the work itself.
Patience is not a virtue here. It is a structural property of the vehicle. Without patience, the vehicle would not be honest to its own thesis.
Our role, in order, is allocation, construction, and operating discipline. The order is not decorative. Each step presupposes the ones before it.
Allocation without construction is speculation. Construction without operating discipline is expensive theatre. All three, applied across a decade, is an institution.
We take minority and majority positions. We sit on boards where we can contribute and stay out of them where we cannot. We do not publish portfolio lists. We do not announce. A commitment that requires announcement to exist is usually not a commitment.
We prefer to work with founders and operators who share the same clock. The alignment on horizon precedes the alignment on terms.
A longer clock is the only clock honest enough to report whether anything has been built.
